Juniper

Juniper, a stunning Silver Laced Wyandotte hen, joined the FPAS family in May 2019 alongside her beloved sister, Jasper—though technically unrelated, their bond was unbreakable. The two were discovered abandoned after their owners moved away, leaving them as half-grown chicks to fend for themselves. Thankfully, a concerned neighbor intervened, ensuring their safety by getting them to the sanctuary.

Sadly, Juniper’s sister, Jasper, passed away before her first birthday, most likely due to complications from her breeding. As a “meat breed” hen, Jasper was bred to grow abnormally fast, resulting in a slipped tendon that left her handicapped for most of her short life. Despite her physical challenges, Jasper was incredibly sweet, social, and adored by all who knew her. Her sudden passing was heartbreaking for everyone who loved her.

Today, Juniper lives with Punkin' and the Flower Girls, where she enjoys a peaceful life at the sanctuary. While she’s not the most social hen, and has never truly bonded with anyone since Jasper, she carries a quiet grace and beauty. Juniper’s story is a reminder of the love and care every animal deserves, and we’re grateful to provide her with a safe forever home.
