Lady Astrid Von Poof

Lady "Astrid" Von Poof, is a beautiful little Silkie hen who joined FPAS in late October 2021. She came to the sanctuary under heartbreaking circumstances—a neighbor's dog had broken into her coop, killing the rest of her flock. Despite the tragedy, Astrid has shown incredible resilience and grace.

Silkies are known for their distinctive fluffy plumage, which feels more like soft fur than typical feathers. They also have black skin, blue earlobes, and five toes on each foot—unlike most chickens, which have four. Astrid, like most Silkies, is known for her sweet disposition and calm nature, making her a favorite among volunteers.

Now safe at FPAS, Astrid lives happily in the Ever After Aviary with her husband, Lord Nimbus Von Poof, and the rest of the bantams. Her gentle nature and delicate beauty make her a cherished member of the sanctuary. She enjoys exploring her surroundings and spending time with her feathered companions, embodying the spirit of hope and new beginnings.
