Prince Charming

Once upon a time, in a land not so far away, a little prince was born—named Charming. This handsome rooster joined FPAS in April 2022. Rescued as a tiny chick near Atlanta, he came with his entire family, each lovingly named after a beloved Disney character by their original rescuer. Most of his feathered kin now call FPAS their forever home, living happily ever after in the sanctuary.

Prince Charming has embraced the single roo life since he and his brothers began bickering before they arrived at the sanctuary. His breed, a type of gamefowl, was originally bred for the cruel sport of cockfighting, so it's no surprise that roosters like Charming often clash with other roos. This combative nature was woven into their very beings by humans, but Charming's gentle heart defies this history.

Despite his breed's troubled lineage, Charming is usually a sweet and gentle soul, seeking affection and enjoying the company of those who care for him. Though he can be a tad spicy at times, thanks to the whims of his hormones, he is easy to handle and has even grown accustomed to wearing a harness—a true prince in training. Prince Charming often follows the staff around the garden, as if strolling through his royal domain, staying close for pets and attention. And though he enjoys being carried, this noble rooster prefers to perch regally on an arm, like a medieval falcon surveying his realm.

Prince Charming’s story reminds us that, even with a past filled with hardship, a gentle and loving spirit can always shine through. And here, at FPAS, he will forever be cherished as the handsome prince he truly is.
