Luda

The Tusk Ninja

Luda was one of Skye and Summer’s first emergency rescues in September 2015, long before FPAS was officially established. Skye received word of a baby piglet abandoned at a home after the former residents were evicted. When they arrived, Luda was standing confidently between the house and the road. Fortunately, his fearless nature made it easy to scoop him up and bring him to safety, beginning his new life at the sanctuary.

As a piglet, Luda lived indoors as a house pig alongside his new "brother", Dasher. This special time of his life allowed for extra bonding with Skye and her family, creating a deep connection. The bond formed during his piglet days is something the family cherishes, having enjoyed every moment of his loving and cuddly nature.

Over the years, Luda hasn’t lost his boldness. Today, he stands as one of the top pigs in the main OG herd, also known as "Gen Pop." His sharp tusks, which he’s not afraid to use when challenged, have earned him regular tusk trims—one of the few pigs on the farm to need this. Despite his “Top Pig” attitude with the other pigs, Luda has a soft spot for humans. He craves belly rubs more than any other pig on the farm and will flop down at your feet, ready for affection without any prompting.

Luda’s name means “Love of the People” in Russian, and it couldn’t be more fitting. His sweet, affectionate nature shines through, reminding everyone at FPAS that it’s "ludacris" not to be vegan! He also has some unique traits—like his tiny footsies that have never needed a pedicure, even as his tusks grow rapidly and require annual trims. Luda’s quirks and personality make him a beloved member of the sanctuary family, a perfect example of the diverse and lovable nature of pigs.
