Macaroni

Miss Macaroni, affectionately known as "Mac," is one of the few pigs born at the sanctuary and is the only sister of Dasher the Flying Pig. Before FPAS officially became a rescue or nonprofit, Penelope, the sanctuary’s second pig, was rescued and unexpectedly turned out to be pregnant. On Christmas Eve, she gave birth to six beautiful and healthy piglets, all named after Santa’s reindeer. While the Franklin family kept Dasher, the firstborn, Mac—originally named Vixen—was adopted by long-time family friends.

For five happy years, Mac lived as an only pig with a flock of chickens. However, when circumstances changed for her adoptive family, it was decided that the best option for Mac was to return to the sanctuary. Rejoining the herd, which included her mother, Penelope, and her brother, Dasher, proved to be a challenge after being apart for so long. Despite living in the introduction enclosure for months, Mac had difficulty adjusting and was met with resistance from the herd leader, Luda. Even Dasher and Penelope initially struggled to accept her back.

Though pig herd dynamics placed Mac lower in the group, she is doing well. Sweet and social, she loves sitting for treats and has found her place within the sanctuary family.
