Olive

Olive and her piglet, Pickles, joined the FPAS family in early 2020 after being rescued from a small town nearby. They were discovered through a Craigslist ad offering them for free to the first taker—a dangerous situation for any animal, especially pigs. Olive had wandered into someone’s yard months earlier and given birth to Pickles there. When the homeowners grew tired of their yard being rooted up, they decided to give the pair away. Skye and her team jumped at the chance to rescue these sweet pigs from their local community.

Pickles was barely weaned when they arrived, and within a week, he was neutered and brought into the house, as is customary for most piglets at FPAS. Living indoors helps with socialization, bonding, and safety. About a month later, Olive surprised everyone by giving birth to a second baby! Skye had attributed Olive’s round shape to recently having Pickles, but baby Raisin’s arrival proved otherwise. Both Pickles and Raisin were born as single piglets in their respective litters, which is exceedingly rare. Pigs also have an unusual gestation period of three months, three weeks, and three days.

Olive was a good mama, but that isn’t her only identity—she has a personality all her own. Olive loves people once she gets to know them and is always ready for a snack. Her adorable underbite and splayed-out toes make her one of the cutest characters, and she has a gentle, loving nature. Short and sweet, she embodies the charm and resilience of pigs everywhere.
